General Information

Yellow Shrimp are another color morph of Neocaridina Heteropoda that started appearing in the hobby between 2006 and 2007. Like other Neocaridina Heteropoda color variants they are a great starter shrimp due to their hardiness, attractive color, and prolific breeding rate.

It is believed the yellow color was selectively bred from wild Neocaridina Heteropoda, a native of Southern Asia. The yellow coloring does not occur in the wild.

Appearance

Yellow Shrimp range in color from a pale yellow to a bright yellow. Adult females are generally the most colorful and males the least colorful. As many Neocaridina species females will sometimes have a bright stripe on their back.
