These shrimp were not bred by me and were originally imported in mid April 2020. Imported Caridina shrimp are not prone to the parasites and disease that Neocaridina are. This is partially due to them being a different species and partially due to them being bred in tanks indoors vs ponds outdoors.
Red Wine or Red Panda shrimp are variants of Crystal Red Shrimp and are also called Taiwan Bees. They started appearing in the US around 2009 (when they were $300/ea or more). Initially they were very sensitive but over the years they have become quite hardy and need the same level of care as Crystal Red Shrimp.
I have kept Red Wine Shrimp in several different tanks ranging from 10 gallons to 40 gallons. The substrates I have used include Aquasoil and SL Aqua Soil, and I use 100% RO water which I remineralize using SaltyShrimp Bee Shrimp GH+. Using remineralized RO water and an active substrate (called active because it affects pH, GH, and KH) makes keeping these shrimp far easier then trying to use tap water.
Like Crystal Shrimp Red Wine/Red Panda's have bands of red and white on them. The white is brighter and the red is a darker, richer red compared to Crystal Red Shrimp.
